A Thousand Years
Author: Kinomi
Email: night_mare_chan@yahoo.com
Warnings/Type: um.... Chichiri reincarnation songfic. Spoilers for OAV2 ep. 5 (the Chichiri OVA episode)

Tasuki's Review Tasuki:

Ehh....Is it just me or is this hard to read? I see grey on white. And it wasn't until I highlighted it to try and see it better that I found out there were song lyrics. Rather abstract, though I can see it like the thoughts that would fly through someone's mind.

Good idea, just needs more. It has a feel of being taken from the center of a fic, or the beginning. Or maybe that was the point. >_>

Either way, it was a bit too slow for my liking. I'd give it 3 whatevers we're giving out.

Chichiri's Review Chichiri:

Sometimes simplicity is beauty in itself no da!

As usual the song used escapes me (I know of Sting but not many of his songs no da) but in this fic it really didn't matter. Yes, most songfics to me are poemfics but this one was so well-written it was more of a short fic.

I think this is going down on my list of personal favorites no da!

I also like the way the ending had a touch of mystery about it. There's no finality, just a hint of...'But what of next time'?

5 kasas for this one no da!!

Tamahome's Review Tamahome:

First off, Tasuki-san's right. In IE, this came out as a solid white background with pale grey writing. I too highlighted it to make it easier to read, and lo and behold, there's a poem there! If it isn't meant to be a surprise (and from the way the story is interwoven with the stanzas, I would say not), I recommend that Kinomi either make the background a dark colour, change the colours of the words, or recheck the HTML to make sure those colours are in the page's HTML and it isn't set to 'browser default'.

Now that I've highlighted the page, let's see what it's like... ah. Sad and sweet and angsty.

I have to admit that I really don't like this sort of thing. Angsting over lost love is alright, but over two lifetimes? I think Chichiri-san is a little more practical than that!

I too am not familiar with the song, so it is very much a poemfic to me. But the mood and theme fit the poem very well. I can see this happening very easily, and it feels very natural.

Hmm... no misspelling, no unreadable syntax or grammar. It passes all the technical tests easily. All in all, very well done!

Nuriko's Review Nuriko:

Hai, this one was tricky to read, but highlighted, it wasn't too bad. The story itself showed up a light grey, but the song lyrics didn't show up at all until I highlighted them.

Again, I find myself agreeing with Tasuki. (Mark this one down, folks... twice in one day) This story seems to be taken from a larger whole, and I would love to see it elaborated on. Perhaps write a story about the three of them in modern times and how they managed to be together again?

All in all, it was very enjoyable, even though it was a bit too short for my tastes.

Chiriko's Review Chiriko:

*looks at fic* EEK! A songfic!

*gets whapped by Tasuki, Chichiri and Moonsong-neesan* Ok, okay!!! I'll try it!

First off, it needs a BG! It didn't load on my machine... and since the font was white for the song lyrics... I had to highlight it. Most readers won't have that patience.

Secondly, this is very pretty, but... there's always a but, isn't there? I think there's a touch to much lyrics (it's a gorgeous song- I do like it!). The fic might stand better without it. The lyrics should ENHANCE, not overwhelm.

I read it a second time, skipping the lyrics, and was impressed with the beauty of the piece. It's nice, original, and fascinating. Though I don't agree with Hikou/Kouran, I do like the smooth turn-about that was used.

So, if Kinomi reformats, I'll give it four kasas. Three if not!
